I was making a trip to Spokane today and passed by a large grocery store that brought back a memory I just HAD to share!
When you are in a crowded place with your bipolar child sometimes the chaotic energy is just too much for their little senstive bodies. Take this trip to the grocery store I am remembering...

Its 2:30 in the morning. From my room I hear
tap tap tap ...what in the world? I start to get scared thinking "Oh no...someone is getting in through a window"
tap tap tap
I finally get my courage up and slowly walk down the stairs to find out what window the noise it coming from...its coming from my sons room!!! Well then Mama Bear kicked in and ran to his door and threw it open feverishly looking around to see who was in there. But no one was there except my son who sitting in the middle of his room tapping away with a screwdriver on a piece of plaster.
"Sweetie its 2:30 in the morning what are you doing?"
"Making a vase now go to bed"
"Making a vase? Honey why are you..."
"GO TO BED MOM!"
"NO! You need to quit..."
"GO TO BED" he yells as he flips around to me and shoots me a look that, honestly, scared me. I shut the door and sat on the couch for a few wondering "What is going on with that boy?"
Well now I know...he was cycling at the moment and making a vase for someone he thought needed it...

When my bipolar son was 11 I went out to check on him and he was in the backyard behind the garage. I walked over to see what he was doing and he was digging...digging a hole under the garage! When I asked him what he was doing he said "Thought I would dig a hole to China". "What?!? Honey we live in Montana, you cant dig a hole to China...theres an ocean seperating us!" "I don't care! I want to dig the hole!" he screamed at me. I tried to reason with him and take the shovel away. I tried to tell him how the garage could collapse if he dug too far then he would get really hurt "LEAVE ME ALONE I WANT TO DIG!!", then I got a hand full of dirt thrown in my face. This, of course, angered me so I picked him up (actually
attempted to pick him up) and took him into the house then put him in his room.
CRASH, SMASH, "I HATE YOU", MORE CRASH, MORE SMASH!!!! He completely trashed his room.
Example one of how these kids can concentrate on inappropriate things and get their little minds set to finish them at all costs!
